Heavy rain has caused severe flooding in Kelantan and Terengganu, with thousands evacuated to relief centers.
Kelantan Sees Sharp Rise in Evacuations
KUALA LUMPUR: The flood crisis in Kelantan has worsened, with more evacuees added to the relief centers. By Wednesday afternoon, 5,493 individuals from 1,682 families had been moved to 76 shelters, up from just 250 the previous night.
Rivers at Danger Levels
Six rivers in Kelantan, such as Sungai Golok and Sungai Melor, have crossed dangerous levels, exacerbating the flooding situation. Flash floods on Wednesday morning have also disrupted traffic in Kota Baru.
More Evacuations in Terengganu
In Terengganu, over 1,200 people from 384 families are sheltering at 42 centers. Seven locations along six rivers are also on high alert due to rising water levels.
Johor Remains Stable
In Johor, the flood situation remains calm, with only 28 evacuees in Segamat. The state has not experienced significant rainfall or flooding.
