Kuantan Peatland Fire Enters 13th Day, Govt Looks at Cloud Seeding
KUANTAN : As the Kuantan peatland fire reaches its 13th day, the government is considering cloud seeding as an emergency response.
Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad stated that cloud seeding requires extensive assessment and is not an instant fix. “It is a costly process that involves multiple consultations and favorable weather conditions,” he explained.

Efforts to Contain the Fire Still Ongoing
The fire, which began on February 22, has already ravaged 137 hectares of coconut plantations. Despite aggressive firefighting operations, it continues to spread due to the challenging conditions of peatland fires.
Authorities are using water bombing and direct ground suppression to mitigate the damage. Meanwhile, the government is proposing increased RMK-13 allocations to enhance long-term fire prevention infrastructure.
