Seven Investigated in Cat Death Cases at UM
KUALA LUMPUR: The mysterious deaths of cats at Universiti Malaya (UM) have led to seven individuals being questioned, including a lecturer, students, and an animal activist.
City police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa reported that a cat carcass handed over by the activist on Dec 21 has been sent for veterinary post-mortem.
Second Carcass Found on Campus
“Another feline found on Dec 25 near the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Science is also being examined. Both autopsies are scheduled for Dec 27,” he stated on Dec 26.
Animal Rights Group Urges Expert Input
Kelab Kucing Malaysia, represented by president Khalid Rashid, called for a transparent investigation involving expert opinions.
CCTV Footage Shows Stray Dogs in Attack
On Dec 22, authorities disclosed that CCTV recordings depicted stray dogs attacking the cats. Veterinary officials later confirmed the injuries were consistent with such encounters.
