Heartbroken Mother Seeks Justice for Daughter’s Tragic Death

A Fatal Morning Incident
BUKIT MERTAJAM: Lee Zi Rou, 21, tragically lost her life in a devastating accident when a container toppled from a lorry and crushed her car. The incident occurred at 9:30am on Wednesday (Nov 13) along Jalan Bukit Tengah.
Demand for Accountability
Her grieving mother, Lim Sheau Ling, 42, is determined to hold the truck driver and the company involved accountable. “This pain is unbearable, but I need to ensure no one else goes through such a tragedy,” she stated emotionally.
A Minister’s Condolences
Human Resources Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong visited the bereaved family, offering support and confirming that aid would be provided through the Social Security Organisation (Socso).
A Final, Heartbreaking Call
Lee, known for her selflessness and dedication to her family, managed to make a call to her mother moments before her death. “Mummy, it hurts so much, please help me,” she cried. Lim rushed to the scene but was too late to save her daughter.
Support from Socso
Minister Sim explained that Lee, who had been working as a clerk since October 2022, was a Socso contributor. Her family will receive RM3,000 for funeral expenses and RM913.50 in monthly payments under the Dependents’ Benefit scheme.
A Family in Mourning
Lee’s cremation is scheduled for Sunday (Nov 17) at the Berapit Crematorium. Her death has left her family and close relatives in shock, struggling to cope with the void left behind.
