A Bangladeshi man has been arrested in Kulai, Johor, for allegedly abusing a dog, following a viral video that surfaced on Instagram. The footage, originally shared by the Instagram handle Updateinfo11, quickly gained traction online, sparking public outrage. The incident reportedly took place on February 24 at a shophouse in Senai. Concerned by the video, a 33-year-old local resident lodged a police report, prompting swift action from the authorities.

Police Investigation and Charges

Kulai OCPD Asst Comm Tan Seng Lee confirmed that the suspect, a 45-year-old factory worker, was detained in connection with the case. Investigations revealed that he had allegedly used a stick to hit the dog. The authorities have classified the case under Section 428 of the Penal Code and Section 29(1)(a) of the Animal Welfare Act 2015, which could lead to severe legal consequences if the suspect is found guilty. The man is expected to be presented before the Kulai Magistrate’s Court on February 28 for a remand application.
