Even at 70 years old, Jackie Chan refuses to slow down, continuing to perform his own stunts for his latest film, Panda Plan. The Hong Kong action star, known for his death-defying stunt work, faced a frightening moment recently when he fainted while filming a physically demanding scene.
In the movie, Chan plays a character fighting off mercenaries in order to protect wildlife. During one of the intense scenes, Chan found himself in a headlock as part of the action sequence. However, in the middle of the scene, he suddenly passed out and collapsed to the ground.
Behind-the-scenes footage captured the moment when his co-star quickly released him and helped him sit up. Crew members rushed to his side as Chan, disoriented, asked, “What’s going on?”
After realizing he had fainted, Chan explained that it may have been because he held his breath for too long while executing the stunt. Despite the incident, the actor quickly recovered and resumed filming, assuring the team that he was okay.
This is far from the first time Chan has pushed his body to its limits. Throughout his career, he has sustained numerous injuries from performing his own stunts, but he remains determined to continue. “Doing my own stunts is what makes the action scenes feel real,” Chan said. “If I let a double do the work, I’d feel like I’m cheating the audience.”
At a press conference last year, Chan said he has no plans to retire from action films, as long as he can keep moving and fighting. “I’ll keep doing stunts as long as I’m physically capable,” he added.
