PETALING JAYA: The new LRT3 line, opening in September 2025, will expand transportation options in western Klang Valley, with a daily capacity of 200,000 passengers.

Route Overview and Capacity Plans

Spanning 37km, the Shah Alam LRT line will connect Kampung Johan Setia in Klang to Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, moving 6,210 passengers per hour initially, and 7,341 by 2028 as five stations are reinstated.

Infrastructure Enhancements for Commuters

Supporting this line, the government will add seven train sets, 150 electric buses, and two depots, improving first-and-last mile connectivity for commuters.

Updated Cost and Funding Allocations

CEO Azharuddin disclosed that the reinstatement cost is RM4.2 billion, lower than the RM5.3 billion reported, and will cover infrastructure and electric bus acquisitions.

Final Preparations and Future Expansion

With the project almost 96% finished, the Shah Alam LRT is set for regulatory testing in April, with new stations opening by early 2028.
