SHAH ALAM: A Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) cadet tragically died while participating in Palapes training activities at the Shah Alam campus. Authorities have confirmed that the death resulted from heat stroke and have found no evidence of external injuries.
Cause of Death Confirmed by Authorities
Selangor police chief Commissioner Datuk Hussein Omar Khan stated that the cadet passed away from multiple organ failure caused by severe heat stroke. The incident has been classified as a sudden death with no signs of foul play.
Details of the Cadet’s Training and Collapse
The student, who had joined the Palapes program in late October, was undergoing physical fitness assessments on Nov 10 when he collapsed during a marching exercise. His trainer had earlier assigned push-ups as punishment for falling behind during a run.
Attempts to Save the Cadet’s Life
At Shah Alam Hospital, the cadet displayed high fever and symptoms of dehydration. Despite medical intervention, including rehydration efforts and treatment for muscle cramps, his condition worsened, leading to his ICU admission and eventual passing on Nov 13.
Ongoing Investigations by the Authorities
